NSDF Collaboration Named Finalist for 2026 HPCwire Readers’ Choice Award

The National Science Data Fabric (NSDF) and its partners have been selected as finalists for the 2026 HPCwire Readers’ Choice Awards in Category 14: Best HPC/AI Collaboration (Academia/Government/Industry).

The nomination recognizes a nationally distributed autonomous laboratory collaboration among NSDF, the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and ViSOAR LLC.

The collaboration connects live high-energy X-ray diffraction experiments at CHESS with NIST-developed AI active learning, ORNL’s INTERSECT and high-performance computing infrastructure, and NSDF–ViSOAR federated data services. By bringing these capabilities together across institutions, the team is working to move autonomous experimentation beyond a single laboratory or facility and toward an operational, nationally distributed model for scientific discovery.
